Hello Fans!   I hope that life is treating you well.  Life has been a whirlwind since I last posted.  My apologies.  First of my family is blessed that my son's life was not taken in an automobile accident two weeks ago. Long story short he is alive, recuperating from his injuries big bumps and bruises and still is sore, a totaled car, medical bills but he is...alive.   I am very grateful!  Family is doing fine.  My Grandson called me "Grando" and I about melted.  The kid is a pistol, full of wonder and life.

I am on Facebook if you would like to catch me there ask to be a friend.

I'm still dedicated to my vocals.  I still practice my vocals in my car and the voice is getting stronger everyday.  I have polished up some really good songs and will post shortly.  I would love to start a band but we shall see.  I put up some ideas on Craig' List but no real response.  I will follow up more on that once my son goes off to college in August.

I indeed am not happy about the happening in the Gulf with the oil and all.  I mean as people can reason and animals cannot about things and that we did not have a plan of action for such events in beyond comprehension.  It certainly disgusts my soul.  What am I to do?  Bummer

All and all the challenges of the world and me being in it....I'm up for it!!!!

Namaste,
Michael

Just had a thought I wanted to share after listening to Canticle to the Cosmos series by Brian Swimme. I've been philosophizing, pondering and wondering if we're not making good decisions in the long term benefit of, and for, our children and their children then whats the point?  I know man/woman can do better than we are.  I challenge the world's best minds to make it better through compromise, intellectual knowledge and common sense. I know we can do it!! I really believe where there's a will there's a way!   Keep the spirit alive!  Much love and emotion.  Namaste, Michael

Hello My Web Fans!!!

Wow from all over the world you come and visit.  It's astounds me.  Thank you for your frequent visits and sharing the site with friends.  Here is the update.  Today song .... With the floods in Nashville things are slightly on hold but the song will go out for the football season.  Got the Today song critiqued by John Braheny and got some great ideas so we're ready to rock and roll.

My son has graduated and now the party season starts and such with friends and family coming into town.

Been writing a couple of new songs about the universe and my being in it.  The other songs I have been writing and rewriting and like "they" say rewriting works best for me by listening to my own songs over and over and over again and just better lyrics surface.  I say to myself if I don't want to hear the song over and over again who will want to either.  I've written music to the song I've written for John Lennon devotion to love and peace.  I had the lyrics but no music so I can up with it finally and it sounds great.

I continue to work on my voice lessons while driving my car.  Voice has gotten strong and I'm happy for you for that so you can hear a better singer and I owe it to you.

I hope record soon my new vocals on my current CD of song I have.  Each song is getting a chopped here and there and lyrics changes here and there as well.

I will be asking a favor from you all soon and will let you know what it shortly.  Just want to spend time with my son before I become an "empty nester."

I hope that my site has been very useful to you in your life and I could be happier in playing a part to help it be better if I can. It certainly pleases my heart and soul.

Namaste,  Michael

The spring has arrived.  I am very happy with my life where it's at.  My son is graduating in the next several weeks.  I've been writing more music and rewriting others I've written as well.   I've been so busy that I haven't had a chance to get my new songs out.  However,  I have been working the vocals while driving to work on my songs on my current CD since my voice is much better, my understanding of syncopation and melodies is better and will redo them.  I'm excited about it. I really believe the musicianship on my CD was outstanding but my voice ... its just has to be better than it is.

Today song is being critiqued by John Braheny.  I hope to hear from him by tomorrow.  Banshee Music love the song but did not feel it was what they needed.  Unreal ....love my song, and not want it!!?????  How can love and not want be in the same thought.  Thats the music biz.

I'm glad you all still come here to listen, read my stuff and I appreciate it.  Please leave a message to what you like and dislike so I can improve the site if possible.

Namaste,  Michael

The weather has been brutal for this tennis pro, singer song writer.  I have been burning however on all cylinders and keepin up with my goals.   I've been writing some new songs that will be going into the copy write catalog of songs I'm sending in.  Possibly up to 30 songs.  My latest is probably the best song I've ever written about the journey of my soul.  It will have an opening like Across the Universe.  I felt like John Lennon was over my shoulder watching and helping.  I call it the Beatles/John Lennon Black Hole.  I drift by and it just sucks me in and walla the songs comes.  Thrilling to say the least.

The Today song is coming along.  I'm making a professional presentation before presenting it to the Atlanta Falcons and the NFL.  Going to a open mike tonite so I must be on my way.

Peace and Love,

Namaste,  Michael

Wow what a start of the year. My business in tennis is changing and I need, or in this case, I will adapt.  Along with writing music, I'm heading in the direction that I have been thinking about seriously for awhile actually, is "Life Coaching."  I believe it is a natural evolution of who I am, where I am at in my life and it is in total alignment with my life's mission and overall  goals.  I've been in the process of putting a Power Point presentation that has great ideas that paints a picture in my style for a person to be empowered by.   Also I will combine the presentation with new music of mine, other great music, that will get a person into the mode to improve one's life and living a more full filled life if that is their goal.  I will keep you abreast.  Please also don't hesitate to leave a comment in my guest book if anything that have read here that has make a difference in your life. I would love to here from you and would make my efforts here more rewarding. If not no big deal.

I'm gonna make my move with the foot ball song with colleges now and go after pro teams when the Super Bowl is over.

I welcome with great cheer the amount of people visiting from England!  Over 1,000 in recent months.  Cheers to you!!!!

Got my text in $to help Haiti.  Unreal.  It's a great world we live in that we can do that if we can't do anything else.  They still have a very tough road ahead. Can't even imagine.

I still work on my voice lessons in my car and I'm getting better and it is really making a difference.  I'm happy and glad for my self determination.

I saw Elvis Costello new music program : Spectacle and I enjoyed it. I tape it and ran across the interview with Ray LaMontagne and enjoyed his perspective of himself, his music and what he was initially trying to do and his goals of his music was quite revealing to me and an epiphany of sorts for me ....it feels like where I am with my music. He said I have all this songs that make me feel good and but thought that others should enjoy as well!  Thank you Ray for your boldness to follow your hunches and your "purpose of being" ...you!   I have all these songs, not enough money to produce them and I'm ready to get them out of the box and let the cards fall where they may.  Good things are coming. I rest assure you.    Thank you   Ray LaMontagne for your honesty ...I'm empowered. I've been sitting in this nest on top of mountain this young eagle I feel that I am, I've been spreading my wings, feeling like I want to fly and then I get chicken shit.  But the shit now is getting smelly and pretty deep and it's time to "light this candle" as Gordo send at the end of the movie ...the Right Stuff.  This will be the year!  Thats a promise!!

Peace and Love,

Cya,

Michael

Here is a real short version of my yearly Christmas letter for the holiday in which I wrote another song that I am finishing up called,  "About our Lives."

As I start to recall all the things I used to write about, our kids, our kids and yes their activities, my lovely wife, now my thoughts are about our “new kids” that we have and that being our aging parents.Ahh the life and times of being a Baby Boomer.  Both my wife’s and my parents have had some serious health challenges and have come thru in flying colors but day by day you just never know and we all don’t know.  Heck even I could go before all of them.   The day of reckoning happens to all of us sooner or later for no one gets out of “this” world alive.  It’s amazing the thoughts that you have at this stage of your life and being in my nifty fifties no less, I am seeing more and more wisdom showing up about priorities and things that “are really important” to me.  I’m really finding out what really matters, what doesn’t, and what remains left for me to do in order to make my life still more productive and fulfilling.  I love our lives and where we are head!  We hope that your journey to works out the way you want it to as well.

We wish you all a fabulous holiday with friends and family. May more joy and prosperity, both in personal growth and monterarily come into you life.

Peace, Love and Harmony!

Michael

PS I really am enjoying the new TV series ...Men of a Certain Age and will be contacting the show to see if they might be interested in playing some of my songs.

My decision has been made and the football song will not be released for this season.  After several reviews and critiques from Nashville to L.A. the potential for the song's best chance for success will have to come next years football season. I had to make other changes to the song as well lyrically.  My apologies.

On another note I am working on two songs I've written and chosen to get produced.  Tonight and Infinity.  I will keep you informed when they will be released.

Last night I finally put some words together watching "V" about peace love with some music I had written with no words yet.

Life is getting better all the time and I hope it is for you as well. Thank you for visiting my site.

October 30,2009

Cheers everyone!!!  Hope life is treating you well.

Well here we go.  The song Today is 99% done.  I believe I'm going to give the song away. Haven't made my final decision yet but leaning hard in that direction.  Not the the song writers/publishing but to the general public.  The song is about football or even soccer for that matter.  I believe that they call soccer football too in other parts of the world so it will be cool.  Whatever the case, the song is fun and kicks butt if you love the sport ....and I DO!!!  If you are into football you are gonna like what you hear.   I will let you know shortly.  Hopefully I will get in video in as well up on you tube.   I love football so much and it gets me in the mood for the game "Today" and I hope it will for you too.

I wrote some new lyrics for an ole Beatles tune, You've Got to Hide Your Love Away, and I believe John would be proud of it.  It's a favorite of mine and actually the first song I played a lot starting to play bar chords way back when.  I'm getting the lyrics copyrighted here shortly and there is no way to sell the song but the lyrics are filled with John's, as well as my own vision for more peace, love and prosperity.

Tennis season is coming to a close here in Atlanta and I shall have more time to devote to my website and music.   Thank so much for visiting!! Lot of people from around the world.  Pretty amazing.

Namaste,
Michael

The song is not done.  I am not depressed or anything but I want to be sure the song is good. I had a critique from TAXI and they were right about a certain part of the song not making sense or making a listener get lost so I am rewriting parts of the lyrics.  Additionally I will start training with a song writing coach up in Nashville who I believe is the next step in my musical writing abilities.  She also mentioned the exact same thing about my Today song. So I believe that in all sense and purpose the song is now on hold.  I am so sorry to disappoint you all. But I am working to get the job done and get it right.  The song still rocks!!!!

I am right smack in the tennis season here in Atlanta so things are quite busy for me and my obligations to my job plain ole living everyday.  Got my skin checked over today as well and no bad stuff on me so that was good news as well for I am always in the sun.

I have still been writing and developing songs I have not completed yet and that's been fun.

I hope you all are well and are enjoying what I have to say here at my website. I hope you find the information valuable to your own life.  Please leave my a note on my guest book page even if it is to say HI!!!

Peace and Love,
Michael

Today song is done!!!   I will have two versions.  One will be country singer with a Trace Atkins voice and another with a rock style voice.  Either way the song rocks and just in time for football season!  I need to get some I's and T's dotted and crossed and will have it available for down load a CD baby ASAP!   Here are the lyrics.

I’m a wild hard core football fan

I know the game

My player’s names

And I can’t wait for the start of the game

The games today, the games today

An ice cold beer a little tail gate

My mind set for the play by play

I know the spread but the games in the head

Love football till the day I drop dead

But not today, the games today

With a great game plan
and our players in the command!
We'll be screamin for ya from the stands

for the game today

Show em our new game plan boys

Well you think you can come in our house and take our home game   well you gonna choke on it.  Bring it on,

The games today, theres no way your gonna win , theres no way you guys are gonna win  you wanna know why?  Because

I'm a wild hard core football fan

I wear war paint and I got my gear

Cause my team and I have no fear

Wow am I excited.  I am getting a demo done in Nashville of a song called "Today."  It's a about football, tailgating, being a wild fan of the sport.  I wrote the song awhile ago but did not release.  It will be testosterone energy, cross country produced and ready to play air guitar!!!!    I've been writing more and found a producer, David Norris and I like him and he wants to create and now we just have to get the rock rolling.  I will meet with him to see if you wants to co create in the next several weeks.

I became a member of BMI.   Getting most of my songs registered.  Got confirmation my songs have been copyrighted so I am feeling good that they are protected to the sense that they are.  I surely do want other to make their share with my music cause that is what it is all about.  Some neat offers are being seen on TAXI.com where my "Today" song might fit and I'm flying high.

I wrote 3 songs, just lyrics, to 3 different Beatles songs.  One is kick ass!  I really think you are going to like it.   It's will be when you hear it..."why didn't I think of that."  Story is, I wrote the lyrics and then lost them GAGGGG. I looked everywhere and to no avail. So I rewrote it all over again and it came out better.  The other two are good as well I believe.

Tennis season is around the corner and I have a full boat of teams to teach and the goal is ...To win my 32nd City Championship with any of my teams.

I am on Facebook as well.  You can look me up there as well.

Life is good.  Hope your life is Grando as well!

Namaste,  Michael

June 3, 2009

Just touching base after a long time.  My sincere apologies.  I have learned much about the internet, my mission and what I am attempting to do with my music.  My voice has certainly improved and I continue to take voice lessons.  I will appear in public to sing songs and see how I like doing it.  My challenge since I do everything by my self is to find a partner to help me.  I'd rather concentrate on singing than doing both.  SO I have my feelers out and the universe is responding to my calls.

I have written many more songs and desperately want to "get them out" so people can listen.  One that I am most fond of is a song I wrote about how a first love happened.  From the first look, to their dates and their interlude and the end.  What I am most happy with is that is has the musical qualities of the sound of "Blackbird" by the Beatles.  When I played it for my best friend his first response was that is in different time but it sounds right.  That is also how Paul played "Blackbird" so I have a feeling I was on to something.  The songs title also has a "new word", that I have Googled and it appears no where in the search.  Whooo hoooo!!  It took nearly four months on constant writing, rewriting and playing till I finally got it down.  I am soooo excited.

I am currently finishing up on another song that has neat progressions and its a song, a chant at the end, in the realm of John Lennon's, Give Peace a Chance.   The lyrics are very philosophical about reality and life, peace, love and most of all hope.  They lyrics are pretty cool where I use one of Bob Dylan's and John Lennon's titles of songs to help the world find the solutions to the challenges of our day.  I love singing it and I hope you will enjoy it to.  It is I believe my best work to date.

By for now and thank you for your support of my efforts to create music.

Namaste,  Michael

January 10, 2009

I just want to say the CD is in replication!!!!  16 Business days from this Monday and 2 days shipping February 6 to be conservative.  Also where I will be able to send my CD to CD Baby and so forth.  Yeah.   I will be going into the studio to record 3 more rock songs so that is cool as well.  I have written a song in the context of Paul McCartney's Beatles song Blackbird that is all over the guitar and that I believe people might like to play a lot.  It is also a love song that will be a part of a NEW Concept CD that will be called the "courtship of a woman."  From thinking about her, being with her, looking in her eyes, the proposal, the wedding song and the honeymoon.   I'm really excited about it and all the songs are lyrics and music are pretty much done.  One song will be truly a Beatlish sound, background vocals and all.  Just got to get the resources.   I'm planning on taking what I make from the new CD and plowing it right back into making more.   Happy New Year everybody.  Thank you for being my fans.

Michael

December 17, 2008

I just want to thank you, my fans, for your extreme patience. Things have fallen behind again.  I dislike being a one man band.  YOU have to do everything by yourself.  Hope you all still love me.  I have change a few things for after my trip to LA.  I attended a TAXI (www.taxi.com) convention, a company that is a go between for indie artists like myself and the music industry, and learned a whole heck of a lot about music and being an independent artist and how to get the job done.  So I am getting it done!!!!

On another note the new songs I've been working on are pretty cool.  I believe I have enough "good" material to do two more concept CD/Albums.   One will totally be about the courtship of a woman and the other about the "soul" (Me and my soul, dieing, dreams, going to infinity, etc.)  Other songs that are not a part of the concept are songs about tailgating and fast cars, pretty woman, fun stuff.   I'm so excited about the songs to come for I have grown so much since the songs that I will be putting out shortly.    I promise not to disappoint you and hope that they might make a difference in your life as they have mine at this very moment.

I am getting more serious writing my blog and it is on my space/beingbabyboo.  I will keep you informed on a bunch of interesting topics that relate to human beings, my music, government, my philosophy, Life coaching, and more.  I hope you will enjoy.

Here is one of my real life stories...

I was in our garage this weekend and low and behold a hummingbird was flying against the top of the garage ceiling and just could not figure out how to get out.  As I looked closer at it's challenge I suddenly saw blood streaks on my white ceiling because it's beak was constantly tapping and scraping the ceiling as it flew to try and figure it's way out. The poor hummingbird might have been there for hours trying to find the way out but to know avail.  Make a long story short I got a broom stick and got it as close to the bird as I could and low and behold the tire hummingbird climb on.  Then the craziest thing started to happen.  All of a sudden the little hummingbird started slipping tirelessly down the pole, it's wings wanting to fly, but were absolutely exhausted and before I knew it ...poof, the hummingbird was resting on  my left thumb and I was ....lost in total humility, and with incredible wonder why that just happen to me and my heart was pounding feverishly as I had been up there all that time.  My son frantically tried to get his camera phone ready but I had to get it out of my garage or it would be back up there again.  As I walked slowly out toward the garage opening ....I was in awe of what was taking place and so humbled by the colorful and fragile nature of the bird's tiny existence.  The sheer wonder of this wild exquisite creature lay resting on my thumb was unbelievable.  When I got to the opening of the garage the hummingbird flew free once again and I was too set free all of a sudden of some of my own challenges in my own life and thought how trite they might be compared to that little hummingbird.  That little bird saved a part of my mind forever.  I will never forget the little hummingbird that landed on my hand and in my mind and it will stay there with me as long as I continue to live, persevere, soar and continue on myself.  Some how, some way, help does arrive when you least expect it in this life.  I'm thankful.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I also have another my space website that is MichaelPopienko.  I will have songs there as well since my space only lets you upload 6.

Michael

I've added some info on my family which came from  Russia back in the late 1940s.  I have had  many visitors from Latvia/Eastern Europe and thought to share my families back ground.  I hope you enjoy.

Updated 8/1/2008

New song A Warrior's Tribute to Eternal Peace (Imagine) is up on my space as of today.  Sorry for the  delay.  It's my so called "Day in the Life" ending to my "Concept CD" like that was for Srg. Pepper.  It's definitely different.  I like it and for what it stands for.  The song is for  all warriors since the beginning of time who fought in wars.  The mental scars that stay with them is eternal.  My song is about eternal peace.  I'm an idealist.  Writing about hope.   Eternal Peace...Imagine it.

Thank you to all the people California, New York and Arizona for vising my website. Thank you all for visiting from else where  too from all over the world.  The CD should be shipped to me by August 17.  Branded is being published by a Publisher in Nashville called Crowe Entertainment.  I will also be getting my stuff out on TAXI as well.  So we shall see.

Got 50 more good songs in the pipeline.  Looking forward to getting them professional produced.  The best is yet to come.  Thank you for being a fan of mine.

Michael

Updated 7/19/2008

Sorry for the delay. But an offer from a Publisher in Nashville for a song I wrote called "Branded" has slowed things down for the time being.  My debut CD "Being Baby Boo" will be ready in about 3 weeks and will be available for downloads at places like CD Baby and I-tunes. I am so excited you have no idea.  This project started 3 years ago and the CD started last September.  Got some new tunes up on my space.   My songs hopefully will bring a different type of "sound" that is fresh but a little reminiscent of great bands that we love to hear and sing with. Additionally, my goal and to write songs that "matter" like any other song writer  is attempting to do.  I will not write "fillers" that's just not me.  I am writing in the way my favorite songwriter and bands did, the John Lennon tradition and of course Beatles and all other great rock legends, Dylan, Tom Petty, Zepplin, Floyd. l'm writing about us humans, who we are, where we are, and where we might want to be going.  I hope you enjoy my musical journey "across the universe to infinity".

Sincerely and with Gratitude,

Michael
